LEED registered project. LEED Project Team Administrator for the Edgewood Group Home, a Long Term Structured Residence servicing up to 8 adults with acute psychiatric needs. Performed feasibility study for LEED certification, coordinated LEED application preparation and assembly. Prepared LEED documentation and supervised commissioning authority and energy optimization consultant. Environmental Aspects
Project highlights include views in 100% of occupied spaces, thoughtful site selection by co-locating residential facility with existing work co-operative program to minimize transportation, reduced site disturbance as well as preservation of open space, rainwater harvesting for use in on-site gardening, water-efficient native landscaping, 20% water use reduction, 20% energy use reduction, construction waste management, recycled and regional materials, controllability of systems, thermal comfort, exemplary recycling through vermin-composting and leaf composting programs and community education and outreach.
It should be noted that the commitment to environmentally sensitive building methods on a project as small as this one was particularly challenging. |
